We are a group of Canadian dentists and volunteers who provide free dental services and dental health education to marginalized people from isolated communities.
It all began with four friends — Dr. Humeres, Yung, Kreher, and Eckert — who met at the University of Toronto while studying dentistry. What started as a shared conviction grew into Canadian Dental Relief International (CDRI): teams of Canadian dentists and volunteers bringing free care, and the education to sustain it, to communities far from reach.
"Humeres, Yung, Kreher & Eckert — four friends, one idea: that good dental care should reach everyone."

Our first trip back since the start of the pandemic. We worked in two locations, treating patients who had gone years without access to dental care.

One of our most extensive missions. We examined 631 patients and performed 907 different treatments — including restorations, extractions, and periodontal treatments.

Care delivered alongside the Mae Tao Clinic on the Thai–Myanmar border, serving migrants and refugees. Full details and photos from this mission are available at cdri.ca.

Nuevo Horizontes is a cooperative community of 125 families located in the El Petén region — one of CDRI's earliest and longest-remembered missions.

Across two decades, CDRI teams have returned again and again to communities around the world. For more information and photos on our past trips, please visit cdri.ca.
Through the Restoring Smiles program, we provide free dental and oro-facial reconstructive services to women who have survived domestic violence — restoring not only teeth, but confidence and dignity.
Donations are accepted at Canada Helps. For more information and photos from our past trips, visit cdri.ca.
